Our Hiring Process.
Live English is growing. Let’s transform lives together.

We sincerely appreciate the time and effort you put into applying for an exciting role at Live English. We know that searching for a job can be overwhelming at times, so we take great pride in making our virtual interviews and selection process as delightful and seamless as possible. We love collaborating with talented individuals from around the world, and we apply extra effort to ensure we attract the best talent, regardless of location.

We’ve been all-in on distributed work from day one, and we’re absolutely loving it! All interviews and onboarding are conducted 100% virtually. Here’s what you need to know about our hiring process:

01/ First things first.

>> The talent team carefully reviews your resume and evaluates whether your skills align with the role requirements. While we’d love to connect with everyone, we prioritize applicants whose experience matches our current needs. If you’re shortlisted, we’ll reach out within two weeks to guide you through the next steps.

02/ Let’s get to know each other better.

>> We’re excited to learn more about you and share insights into our unique culture, work style, and what it takes to flourish at Live English. We’ll ask thoughtful questions (and hope you’ll do the same) to determine if we’re a good fit. By the end of the interview, you’ll have a clear understanding of the role and our company.

03/ Show us what you’ve got.

>> For certain roles, evaluating candidates solely based on their resume or CV can be challenging. As a result, you may be asked to provide a live demo or submit a recorded video. We won’t ask you to memorize or recite material—that’s not our style. Instead, we’re more interested in knowing how you think. This is your opportunity to showcase your skills and demonstrate your ability to engage learners.

04/ Your offer and next steps.

>> Once we determine that you are the most qualified candidate for the role, the talent team will extend an offer to you. After you’ve accepted the offer, we will guide you through all the important details of the contract and our customized onboarding program. Before your start date, we will work with Deel to complete a quick background check. We can’t wait to welcome you to the team!

FAQs.
Feeling curious?

Can I really work from anywhere in the world?
Absolutely! With the remarkable advancement in technology, today’s smartphones and computers possess processing power that is thousands of times greater than that of the computers used to land a man on the moon in 1969. This extraordinary progress in computing power combined with advances in digital collaboration tools and cloud technology has fueled the remote work revolution—profoundly transforming how we connect, learn, play, and work.

At Live English, we’re committed to creating a digital workplace where everyone belongs and has a voice, no matter where you are. If you have a laptop and a reliable internet connection, you’ll enjoy the freedom and flexibility to work from anywhere in the world.

How can I prepare for my virtual interview at Live English?
We’ve outlined a few tips to help you get ready:
– Your interview will be conducted over Google Meet.
– Confirm the interview time in your local time zone to avoid confusion.
– Choose a quiet, well-lit environment free of distractions.
– Use a compatible device, and close unnecessary brower tabs and apps.
– Ensure your device meets these requirements: iOS or Android smartphone/tablet with a front-facing camera, or a laptop/desktop with Windows 10+ or macOS 12+.
– Confirm your internet connection is stable, and test your device’s audio and webcam.
– Position your camera so you’re centered on the screen. If you wear glasses, adjust the lighting to reduce glare.
– Keep a copy of your resume and any notes or questions for the interviewer handy.
How long does the hiring process take?
Every day, we work diligently to create a seamless candidate experience. Our hiring process typically takes one to two weeks. While we strive to provide updates within this timeframe, some circumstances may require additional time. Rest assured, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
Do I have to send a cover letter with my resume or CV?
No, you don’t have to send a cover letter with your resume or CV. However, including a few sentences about your relevant experience, skills, and interests can be very helpful and may increase your chances of securing an interview.
I applied and interviewed last year but wasn’t selected. May I reapply?
Definitely! We’re excited to see how you’ve grown. If it doesn’t work out this time, we encourage you to stay connected and reapply when your skills or experience have significantly evolved.
What is the expected work commitment at Live English?
Live English requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. There is no upper limit so you can work as many hours as your schedule allows. This flexibility enables you to adjust your workload to fit your personal life, giving you full control over your hours. We prioritize supporting our instructors’ well-being and life-work balance while offering opportunities to increase your earnings based on the number of lessons you conduct.
How do you communicate with everyone working remotely?
With teammates located on almost every continent and across time zones worldwide, we primarily rely on virtual meetings and asynchronous communication through our robust platform for most team interactions. We have also implemented various supportive touchpoints to check in with our teammates, ensuring you receive the interaction and any additional support you may need.

Scaling the dynamic nature of a distributed-first company presents both unique opportunities and enduring challenges. Your continued support is invaluable as we navigate this multidimensional concept. We welcome your insights and feedback as each contribution helps us unlock the full potential of remote collaboration on a global scale.

What is the dress code?
At Live English, we believe that what you wear doesn’t affect your ability to do your job. We embrace a laid-back California vibe, which is reflected in how our teammates dress for work. With that in mind, you’re encouraged to exercise autonomy in your clothing choices as we trust that you’ll use your best judgment to dress in a way that makes you feel both presentable and comfortable.

What truly matters to us is effective communication, fruitful collaboration, alignment with our mission and values, and your skill set—not your wardrobe.

I received a link to a survey after my interview. What’s it about?
After your interview, you may receive a link to a post-interview survey. This survey is designed to gather your feedback regarding your interview experience. Your insights are invaluable to us, as they help us improve our hiring processes and ensure a positive experience for all candidates.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us; your feedback is greatly appreciated!
