日増しに秋の空気が強くなって参りましたね。
紅葉が楽しみな季節になりましたが、皆様の秋のレジャーの予定はいかがでしょうか？
今日はラスベガス在住のアメリカ人講師Judi先生が、バケーションでカリフォルニアのヨセミテ国立公園を訪れた時の写真やコメントを送ってくれましたので、皆様にもシェアさせていただきます！
[From Judi] Yosemite National Park, in California, is one of the top visited parks in the US. Last year, there were over 4 million tourists, some of whom came from Europe, Asia and other parts of the world. The parklands are often considered to be “America’s monuments in stone.”
ヨセミテ国立公園は1984年に世界自然遺産登録をされた、アメリカの中でも最も観光客の多い観光地の一つです。氷河によって造り上げられた岩山とそこに点在する無数の滝がとても美しく、年間400万人が訪れるそうです。
[From Judi] Photographs of Yosemite are famous. You may recognize one from your Mac desktop! Artist Ansel Adams is one of the many people known for capturing the mountainous landscape. He used a large-format camera, on black and white film.
ヨセミテの写真はとても有名で、もしかしたら皆さんも見たことがあるかもしれません。そう、Macのデスクトップにある、あの写真です！ご存知でしたか？
[From Judi] Monday, October 8 was Columbus Day (after Christopher Columbus). Schools, government offices and banks were closed, in observance of the holiday.
I spent the long weekend traveling to Yosemite National Park. I took a one-hour flight from Las Vegas to San Francisco, then drove about six hours to the forest. It was a long journey, but definitely worth it!
I went camping at two different campsites and stayed for a period of three days. There are many hikes you can do at Yosemite, I did different ones each day. Here are some photos from our most challenging climb. Enjoy!
10月8日はアメリカ大陸発見の記念日「コロンブスデー」で祝祭日です。Judi先生はラスベガスからサンフランシスコまで飛行機で飛び、サンフランシスコから車で6時間かけて到着しました。長い道のりですが、大いに価値あり！とのこと。公園内では3日間キャンプをして過ごしました。たくさんのハイキングコースがあり、毎日違うルートと大自然の景観を楽しめます。
The trail was marked “strenuous,” with a total gain of about 2,000 feet (600 meters).
